Description | When Professor Lewis and Sir John Vane first started corresponding, Professor Lewis worked for the Medical Research Council; he later worked for CIBA Laboratories (Horsham, West Sussex) before joining the Department of Pharmacology at the Royal College of Surgeons, where he was Vandervell Professor. The correspondence in the file is sporadic, and includes a letter concerning the publication of a manuscript by Sir John Vane and Regoli (14 April 1964); two letters from Sir John Vane concerning an article in the July 1968 edition of 'Which' magazine about Entero-Vioform (July 1968); and a copy of a circular letter from Professor Lewis concerning the recommendations of the Flowers' Report, specifically that the Royal College of Surgeons' Institute of Basic Medical Sciences (part of the Pharmacology Department) should cease to be part of London University (14 March 1980). |
