Two manuscript notes in Stephen Hales' hand, the first is his proposal to use sea-salt to preserve animal specimens. The paper was not published by the Royal Society, but published as part of Hales' 'Philosophical Experiments'.
The second is an extract from a letter received by Hales where Louise Teale Belcher reports changes in waters in Lake Ontario. This note was published in Philosophical Transactions, as 'Extract of a letter to the Rev. Dr. Hales, F. R. S. from Governor Belcher's Lady; dated Elizabeth town, NewJersey, Oct 22, 1755; concerning an extraordinary motion in the waters in the Lake Ontario in North-America'.
