Distinguished principally for his important researches on dental pathology and on the variations in the number, position and structure of the teeth of the mammals, which have added a number of highly interesting and valuable facts to our knowledge of the odontology of the class. His last and reatest work, "Variations dn diseases of the teeth of animals", 1936, a quarto volume contianing over 1,000 illustrations, was based upon an examination, extending over many years, of the collections of skulls in all the principal museums of Europe adn America.
