Citation | Zuckerman, Solly (Oxford). MA (Oxon). D.Sc. (London). University Demonstrator in Anatomy, Oxford. Distinguished for important researches on the morphology and relationships of the Primates, and on their reproductive physiology. He has made outstanding contributions to the study of social behaviour in lower Primates, especially important as a basis for the study of primitive human society (see his books "Social Life of Monkeys and Apes" and "Functional Affinities of Man, Apes and Monkeys"). Since 1930, he has published many papers dealing with the menstrual cycle and associated phenomena, embodying an experimental demonstration of the probable hormonal factors involved. He has lately made an intensive study of vestigial structures in the male and of the effects on them of oestrogenic hormones. He has also published important papers on the peripheral nervous system, brain growth, and human palaeontolygy. |
