Citation | MAnn, Frederick George (Caambridge). M.A., Sc,D. (Camb.), D,.Sc. (London), Fellow and Lecturer of Trinity College and University Lecturer in Chemistry, Cambridge. Distinguished for his work on stereochemistry, especially that of the organic derivatives of the transitional metals. He has given original experimental proof (1) of the nature of co-ordination linkage, (2) of the optical activity of compounds containing a carbon atom which has acquired asymmetry through co-ordination of nitrogen, (3) of anomalies among the parachors of organometallic compounds, (4) of the existence of optically active, inorganic compounds of sulphamide, and (5) of the structure and properties of the 'bridged' derivatives of palladium, mercury, copper and other metals. He has also made notable comtributions to the stereochemistry of arsenic and to the study of aliphatic polyamines. |
