DescriptionMonthly tables of magnetic dip, from observations at Madras [Chennai], India, made using the Robinson no.2 (new) needle on selected days of the month. Usually eight or nine sets of morning and afternoon readings of dip, with temperatures from the Dip Room thermometer and the thermometer attached to the vertical force magnetometer.

Headed [p.1]: 'Observations of the Dip of the Needle taken at the Madras Magnetic Observatory during the year 1844...North Pole always Dips'. Signed [p.7] by S.O.E. Ludlow, as Superintendent of the Observatory.
