DescriptionDaily meteorological observations taken at several times during each day, varying from two to five instrument readings. The printed sheets have columns for hour of the day, barometer in inches, thermometer in degrees, maximum and minimum temperatures of the 24 hour periods, wind quarter and strength, weather and general remarks.

The general remarks are sparse, but contain notes on the aurora borealis and news of unusual weather, including on 19 November 1840: 'A vessel arrd. fr. Barbadoes this eveng. she had been nearly becalmed, running down the shore from Cape Ballard until within Cape Spear, when she caught the gale...' [p.13].
