Description | Annual monthly mean results of meteorological observations made at Purandar and at Puna, Maharashtra State. Two sheets, with results from 1854 and 1858. The 1854 tabular summary includes columns for mean readings of the barometer and elastic force of vapour, temperature of air, mean temperature of evaporation and dew point, mean weights, direction and strength of wind, rainfall, and cloud [not completed].
The 1858 table has columns for corrected barometer, mean temperatures of air and evaporation at 9.30am and 3.30pm; the same for dew point computed by Glaisher's tables, Apjohn tables, and observed by Daniell's hygrometer and Regnault's hygrometer; means for elasticity and humidity of vapour, with weights; wind pressure and cloud cover; maximum temperature in the Sun and mimimum on grass; temperature of air, temperature of evaporation, maximum pressure of wind, and rainfall.
The 1854 summary sheet is headed: 'Monthly Meteorological Table for the Station of Poorundhur...reduced from observations...made under the direction of Lieutt. Fergusson'. The 1858 results are credited: 'Deduced at the meteorological observatory Bombay [Mumbai] by Govind Ramchundra and Hurry Chintamun'. and signed by E.F.T. Fergusson, Superintendent of the Government Observatory. Both sheets have typed paper labels verso. |
