DescriptionTables of monthly meteorological observations made near George Town, Penang Island. Daily readings of the barometer, attached and detached thermometers, dry and wet bulb thermometer, wind and weather, made at 3.40a.m, 9.40a.m, 3.40p.m., and 9.40p.m. With hourly meteorological observations of the same, for 21 April, 21 May, and 21 June 1843.

The accompanying preface [MA/350/32] describes the locale thus: 'These observations were commenced a few days after my arrival at Penang in a house occupied by Lieutenant Colonel Hutchinson situated about 1 1/4 mile to the N.W. of the Fort Flag Staff [Fort Cornwallis]'.

Signed [p.7]: 'T.G. Taylor U.C. Astr.' [Thomas Glanville Taylor] and with a note by him 'I regret to observe that several errors appear to exist in the foregoing Meteorological Observations...' with a list of errata.
