| Description | Rough copy daily observations of atmospheric electricity, with accompanying meteorological information. Recording the date and time of observations, temperature, wind, and clouds; with earth and air electricity readings, and occasional general remarks. Initial observations [pp.3-5] were made on board the SS Discovery [28 December 1901], and off Coulman Island [16 January 1902]. The next note [p.7] is 'Feb 10 1902 on shore, Winter Quarters, McMurdo Sound'. Subsequent observations are likely to have been taken at the same location, known as Winter Quarters Bay. A preliminary note on the instruments [p.1] describes two electrometers, initially in poor condiction, received from Mr. Ferrar: No. 81 and No. 35 made by G [James?] White of Glasgow.
Made during National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904 [the Discovery Expedition] led by Captain Robert Falcon Scott.
