Description | Daily meteorological observations, with up to five readings taken per day, but most often three readings, at various hours of the day. Presented in columns for date, times, barometric pressure, temperature, force and direction of wind, clouds, weather and appearance of the sky, rainfall, and other general observations, including of the aurora borealis.
The tabular format was recommended in the paper: 'Invitatio ad observationes meteorologicas communi consilio instituendas', by James Jurin, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, v.32 (1723), pp.422-427.
