DescriptionIn response to letters from Professor [Michael] Foster of July 1897. Informs that whilst the Lords of the Committe of Council on Education have the intention of assisting scientific research, they cannot do so without agreement of the Treasury. Specifically in relation to Professor Sollas, whereby it was preferred that no application was to be made to the Treasury, and that Professor Sollas has since resigned from his position on the Geological Survey.
