DescriptionRefers to Lord Salisbury's reply to his letter. Informs he has allowed correspondence to be sent to the newspapers, because it seemed desirable that the decision of the government should be made known immediately. Informs that the KGS council resolved that if an Antarctic expedition was got up by means of funds collected by subscription, they would contribute £500. Emphasies this is all that has happened and any statements in the newspapers are unauthorised. Trusts the Joint Atlantic Committee will continue its work and it will be summoned to consider the next step.
