DescriptionInfomrs of the setting up of a Committee for the purpose of organising a further exploration of the region of Lake Tanganyika, outlined in detail in an enclosed attachment entitled 'The Biological and Physical Exploration of Lake Tanganyika', dated 2 November 1898. States that, whilst the Committee has received substantial help from the Royal Geographical Society and several private sources, the entirety of the required sum has not been obtrained. Therefore has been advised to apply to the Royal Society for further funding. The second enclosure is a letter by Moore, dated 7 March 1899, requesting monetary aid from the Royal Society, and refers to an enclosed application which is not attached.
