TitleLetter from [Richard] Strachey, to Professor [Arthur William] Rücker
CreatorStrachey; Sir; Richard (1817 - 1908)
Date6 December 1899
DescriptionReplying to a letter of 6 December to points raised by Rücker raising the following:

The Meteorological Council considers it to be of primary importance that the secretary who is the principal executive officer should also be a meber of the Council.

To meet the requirements of the Incorporated Body consisting of members, the Meteorological Council consider that a small alteration in the Articles of Association will suffice.

The Council do not anticipate that the Treasury, which has placed the whole financial responsibility for the administration of the Parliamentary grant on them, would offer any objection to such a redistribution of the sum assigned for the remuneration of the Council, best enable them to carry out the task of the Meteorological Office, provided of course that the sum assigned for this purpose is not exceeded.

The Council do not feel that it is a good time to undertake any fundamental change to the constitution of the Meteorological Council.
