Informs he departed from Stromness, arrived at the deep-water area, collected some plankton, and made four attempts with the new-pattern midwater turret. However, decided to return early due to worsening weather conditions. Notes that he could not collect a large number of specimens this year but, did manage to test the new pattern with somewhat unsatisfactory results. Request that the letter's content be shared with the Royal Society Council, along with appreciation for the assistance received from the officers. |
