TitleLetter from [Sir Edward] Frankland, to [William Thomson] Lord Kelvin, The Royal Society
CreatorFrankland; Sir; Edward (1825 - 1899); chemist
Date9 October 1897
DescriptionProposed letter for sending to Lord Kelvin [William Thomson], in relation to a letter from Signor G Colombo, President of Associazione Electrotecnica Italiana, informing the Society that he has taken it upon himself to name the Royal Society in a committee put together for erecting a memorial to Galileo Ferraris (1847-1897).
Believes Signor Colombo presumed Lord Kelvin was still president of the Rociety, and due to his previous association with the Committee, the two names would be synonynous in its support for the memorial committe. Requests for Lord Kelvin to contact Colmbo personally to amicably ask for an explanation, and to inform him that as the subject would be discussed by the Council, it may result in a detrimental effect on the entire endeavour.
