Title | Letter from [Edward Percival] Wright, M.D, 5 Trinity College Dublin, to [Michael] Foster, [Secretary of the Royal Society] |
Creator | Wright; Edward Percival (1834-1910) |
Date | 19 November 1897 |
Description | Refers to a letter from Robert J. Lendlmayer, claiming it combines fact and fiction so much that he needed time to decide how to advise the Society. Suggests it would be advisable to have an up to date account on Irish sponges, and feels the Royal Irish Academy would have funded such an endeavour. States that Lendlmeyer would need to travel to Dublin, because Kensington maintain their sponges cannot leave their museum. Lendlmayer, claims Wright, described their species, sent to him by Soharff, but these were collected by Royal Irish Academy grants and it was specially stipulated that they should be described before being handed over to the Museum. Therefore, Wright fears that Lendlmayer would not get the Irish species, even if he had been given the £50. |
