Title | Letter from [Arthur William Rücker], 19 Gledhow Gardens, SW, to [Sir William Henry Mahoney] Christie |
Creator | Rucker; Sir; Arthur William (1848 - 1915); British physicist |
Date | 3 December 1897 |
Description | [Stephen Edward] Spring Rice has informed Rücker of Christie's decision not to act as delegate to the Geodetic Bureau. Asks Christie whether he is aware that the permanent delegate is required to meet annually and is therefore expected to visit Berlin, as both Spring Rice and Rücker believed that a triennial visit sufficed. Further asks Christie if his decision would be influenced if expenses for an annual visit were to be paid for. The Council believe the country ought to be represented by the Astronomer Royal, a position held by Christie. |
