TitleLetter from [Sir William Henry Mahoney] Christie, Royal Observatory, Greenwich, London, SE, to [Arthur William] Rücker, Secretary of the Royal Society
CreatorChristie; William Henry Mahoney (1845-1922); British astronomer
Date6 December 1897
DescriptionInforms that the Geodetic Association meets at least every 3 years whilst the Permanent Committee meets every year. Apologises for not being able to act as a delegate and attend the meetings, and whilst he is ready to give his opinions and answer questions pertaining to astronomy, he believes it is much better for the Official Delegate to act as representative of the Ordnance Survey. States he was a member of the Permanent Committee for a number of years but was only able to attend two meetings. Proposes the Superintent of the Standards [Henry James Chaney] to be a fitting representative.
