Description | In reply to previous correspondence, specifying he approached the Secretary of the Royal Society to obtain his aid in getting scientific apparatus, in connection with his South American Expedition, without the usual difficulties. Clarifies his stance in detail, stating he believed that the Government gave the Royal Society an annual grant for the purpose of assisting scientific enquiry and paying for expenses it might incur in affording such assistance. Informs that when he received a request from the Royal Society to pay £3.14.11 for the Foreign Office, he put it into the paper basket. Encloses a cheque [enclosure not present]. Attached is a copy of the response from the Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society, dated 29 October 1923. |
