DescriptionPresenting observations regarding the meteorological department of the Board of Trade. This follows a report from the 1853 Brussels Conference for the standardisation of observation practices at sea and recommendations received from the Royal Society in 1855. Farrer also refers to a newly established system of telegraphic communication for the purposes of storm warnings and requests further scientific insight from the Royal Society.
