' The Secretaries have drawn to my notice your letter of sympathy to the Royal Society on the deah of our late President, Sir William Bragg. I shall look forward to the opportunity of laying your letter before the Council at their next meeting, and would like to assure you, meanwhile, on this Society's behalf, of our gratitude for your action. We know how greatly the loss will be felt by the whole scientific world, and understand and fully appreciate your references to to Sir Wiiiam Bragg;s beautiful character, great in its genuinme modesty as in every other way. He was a man not only aadmired for his great scienfitic powers and achievements, but held in deep affection by a circle extending widely beyond the range of his scientific colleagues.
I am writing to Sir LAwrence Bragg to tell him of your special sympathy to him as well as to the Royal Society. ' |
