Title | Copy letter from Sir Henry Thomas Tizard, to Professor F Joliot, Director, National Centre of Scientific Research, 13 Quai d'Orsay, Paris |
Date | 2 November 1945 |
Description | The Royal Society has received a report from Professor I M Heilbron concerning his recent visit to Paris with Dr L H Lampitt, and Tizard, as the Foreign Secretary to the Society, sends thanks for the hospitality extended to the two visitors.
Tizard refers to the Society's pleasure at hearing that Heilbron had the opportunity to discuss areas of mutual scientific interest with French colleagues, and the assistance which might be given towards rehabilitation of science in France via exchanges of lecturers and students between Great Britain and France, and the supply of arrears of relevant publications. The news that French chemical opinion is in favour of reviving and strengthening the International Union of Chemistry, with a proposed conference to be held in London in 1946, is also positively received by Tizard on behalf of the Society. |
