Title | Copy letter from John David Griffith Davies, to Sir Henry Thomas Tizard, Magdalen College, Oxford |
Date | 26 October 1945 |
Description | Thanks for letter of 24 October 1945 and responses to the subjects raised. In response to the letter from Sir Edward Appleton, Tizard belives there is not much more they ought to do, but proposes raising the matter at the next Officers meeting. Tizard has been shown a draft of the Association for Scientific Workers' suggestions on his memorandum, and notes that the President of the Royal Society and Sir Alfred Egerton attended a conference with the Minister for Education and Dr Huxley. Tizard did not know of Professor Geiger's death, but as he was not a Foreign Member of the Society it will not be mentioned in the President's anniversary address. Also agrees that the Foreign Office has been helpful in assisting with arrangements for visits abroad, and notes that Dr H J Muller is due at Southampton and would be staying with the Huxleys. |
