Title | Memorandum from John David Griffith Davies, to Sir Henry Thomas Tizard [Royal Society] |
Date | 12 August 1941 |
Description | Account by the Assistant Secretary of a visit to review the storage of the Royal Society's property housed in the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth. Includes descriptions of the careful examination of some of the packing cases of the Society's manuscripts, and a discussion with the Librarian regarding further examination by his staff. Also refers to seeing a microfilm appliance in action, and the suggestion that this might be used for the reproduction of the Bulloch notes, which would need to be transferred from Monmouth to Aberystwyth before an estimate of cost could be made. The possibility of making a payment to the National Library of Wales for the accommodation and protection of the Society's property, in line with gifts provided by other institutions, for instance The Royal College of Surgeons, is also mentioned. |
