DescriptionMaterial on the acquisition of portraits of Fellows of the Royal Society, with details of artwork offers that were not accepted into the collections, together with framing and conservation work (usually by James Bourlet & Sons Ltd.). Some correspondence relates to the reproduction of portraits, exhibition loans and other admistrative matters around the paintings. The file contains a list of pictures removed to Trelech, Wales, for safe storage in wartime, in 1939. There is an earlier list of paintings, noting restoration, cleaning and glazing, from 1931. This includes a portrait of John George Children, no longer in the collection.
