DescriptionA George III memorial cup, cover and plinth; campana shape, the lower body chased with formal foliage and bulrushes below. Entwined serpent handles. The rim applied with a frieze of formal flowerheads. Inscribed 'To Daniel Ross Esq...'. Presented to Daniel Ross FRS, of the East India company's navy, in recognition of his services in contributing to the rescue of the American ship 'Asia' at the mouth of the Tigris in 1807.
