| Description | Copy of a text in Japanese written out in 11 volumes by an unidentified disciple in the teaching lineage of the mathematician Aida Yasuaki, 1747-1817 (also known as Aida Ammei, sometimes spelled Ame). Lineage refers to the tradition of master-disciple teaching in which knowledge and learning is passed down through teachers from the founding master. In this case the copyist is the third generation of descent from the founding master, Aida Yasuaki.
The front of each volume has a label written in Japanese.
The cover of the first volume has labels written in English as follows:
'Chin. C. 160-170' [this may indicate a date given as an unidentified westernised era name and year of that era, or a name and date]
'San po do mo su chi' [possibly a westernised rendering of the title of the copied work]
According to an acommpanying note the copy text is incomplete as the full original text comprises three parts. Part one is said to be missing, part two contains chapters 5-10 and part three contains chapters 1-5, meaning there are two copies of chapter five present. |
