| Description | Sabine has had to take up the duties of Colonel Mansel [Brigade Major, Colonel Robert Christopher Mansel] while the Colonel's wife is indisposed and this, coupled with the expected arrival of Sir [Hussey] Vivian in Limerick, means it is unnecessary for Lloyd to send his dip circle to Sabine as he is too busy. Sabine has worked at his own dip circle and improved it. Has vibrated Lloyd's horizontal needles and sends their rates here. Discussion of [Christopher] Hansteen's latest isodynamic lines and some mistakes therein. Sabine asks if Lloyd could contact [Francois] Arago concerning the best mode, worthy of general adoption, of making isodynamic lines and if Lloyd could then have this method sanctioned by the British Association [for the Advancement of Science]. |
