Title | Letter from Edward Sabine, Margate to Humphrey Lloyd |
Date | 4 December 1840 |
Description | Sabine has recently given a report on the current state of the [British colonial] magnetic observatories to the Master General of the Ordnance. The timeline for publishing returns will depend on the Master General but the form which this publication takes should be decided between Lloyd and Sabine.
A second letter from Sabine to Lloyd is attached to the above and discusses [Wilhelm] Weber's opinion of a transportable magnetometer; proceedings of the council of the British Association for the Advancement of Science; the question of dip observations at the observatories; and the mode in which observations from the Milan observatory should be passed from the Royal Society to Lloyd in Dublin. |
