Description | Riddell enquires about Lloyd’s theodolite magnetometer and increasing the distance between the telescope and collimator during the determination of the absolute declination. Riddell notes that Mr [Johann von] Lamont also places the absolute declination magnet at the extreme furthest point allowed by his deflecting bar support. Discussion on Lloyd’s reasoning for this. Riddell discusses the dimension of the telescope he would prefer. Discussion on placing the iron bars of the inclinometer in opposite directions. |
