Description | Discussion on Riddell setting up an observatory in Toronto, and any work that has bene undertaken so far. Lloyd informs Riddell that it appears he has not received any of his letters which contain replies to most of Riddell's inquiries. Lloyd discusses his happiness on the news that Riddell has altered his intended site for setting up his observatory, and made arrangements to ensure the observatory is permanent in any event the government gives it up. Discussion on materials used for the building and setting up the instruments. Lloyd informs Riddell that [Edward Sabine] notes it is not desirable that the telescope of the declination magnetometer be at a very great distance the collimator is used with the latter. Lloyd enquires about the terms days, and sites additional term days at Göttingen. Lloyd discusses sending Riddell additional apparatus. |
