The cover is inscribed: 'Accound of the going of the six Chronometers embarked in the Isabella, with the Longitude by each one during her voyage of Discovery, 1818, kept by Captain Sabine.' The volume contains introductory text, followed by weekly comparisons of the running of the six instruments,with monthly tables of returns of longitude for 1818 and memoranda.
Observations compiled during the Arctic North-West Passage expedition led by Sir John Ross (1777-1856) aboard HMS 'Isabella' and accompanied by HMS 'Alexander' under Lieutenant William Edward Parry. The expedition reached Lancaster Sound at the north end of Baffin Island and entered Lancaster Sound. |
