Description | Monthly report of the superintendents of exploration. A Committee Meeting was held in the cavern on 30th Nov and attended by Mr Vivian, Mr Evans, and Mr Pengelly. Discovery of a new black deposit in the cavern, which was seperate to the 'black mould' and was unknown to them. They say the black deposit suggests an interval of time that pushes the redloam deposit back further into intiquity. Within the new black deposit, flint flakes and chips were found alongside a partially burned bone that was burnt at one end only. Crude drawing showing size and form of angled bone depicted, which had 'several distinct marks of it having been cut'. Another drawing depicting size and form of a flint, which was up to that point 'the largest and best' found. Possible remains of large elephant found. |
