Vivian; Edward (1808–1893); science writer; poet |
Date | 5 June 1868 |
Description | Monthly report of the superintendents of exploration. The month of May was very laborious and difficult, much of it consisted of blasting, breaking up, and removing the stalagmite floor in the South-West gallery - it is highly crystalline and extremely hard. They have come across an unknown source of water through the stalagmite. Bones were found in the rock-like breccia, one or two of which appear too large to be of a bear. . |
