Forwarding the historical note finishing the article on polarisation and summarising its contents and the passages that were omitted to keep the article short (1 - development of hues through multiple reflextion using metallical mirrors 2 - the rings that become visible when observing slits perpendical to the axis through a rhomboid 3 - polarised light absorbed by certain crystals. ) Aragao has previously published on the 3rd point in 1814, and the phenomenon is disputed by [Jean-Baptiste] Biot and [David] Brewster.
