On the matter of Arago's article on refraction in Encyclopedia Britannica, Arago is delighted to hear that the editors are in fact waiting for his article to publish the volume and Young will translate it from the French himself. This clears any worry that Young had been upset with Arago and that [David] Brewster had tainted the editor's judgment of him.
[Jean-Francois] Champollion is in Turin to attend the opening of [Bernardino] Drovetti's exhibit, Arago will forward him in writing Young's thoughts. Arago hopes to see [Jean-Antoine] Letronne to let him know that he had not cited Young's prior work on the zodiac in Egyptian antiquities. Hopefully, Letronne's book is successful enough that he will be able to publish another edition where he can include an amendment on the topic. |
