DescriptionLetter written to inform Lind of Maskelyne's sentiments and to inform him of the circumstances of the expeditions to observe the transit of Venus, of which Lind wishes to partake in. Maskelyne describes from where and how the observations are to take place. Maskelyne also describes the island from which the observations will take place and writes of which of Lind's qualities he will emphasise to the Royal Society council to pursuade them of his value on the expedition.
