TitleLetter from Antoine [Thomson] d'Abbadie, Paris to Edward Sabine
Date14 June 1870
DescriptionAbbadie recommended Sabine to be the next correspondent for the Section de Géographic et de Navigation since the death of Prince Denidoff has left the post vacant. It was not understood why Sabine was not already in this position. [Urban Dortet de] Tessan had informed Abbadie that [Louis Isidore] Duperrey had persistently opposed Sabine’s nomination as long as he lived. According to the rules of election a report must be written on the candidate detailing their work. Abbadie is currently writing a report on Sabine’s work ‘a no light task’. Abbadie asks Sabine certain details of his published papers such as titles and dates.
