Items from the Royal Society's Museum, or Repository, prefaced by an 'Index of Things', a rough content classification of shells, fishes etc.. Followed by 'Minerals and Fossils extraneous Bodies'. The volume commences with the heading [p.1] 'May 26th 1763. Began the Inspection and Regulation of the Repository. Present - Mr. Baker. Dr. Parsons.' Each category has a brief numbered list of materials with occasional donor information and additional numbers. Very occasional references to Grew's Catalogue. Sections on Quadrupeds and Birds have more complex references, possibly to storage presses or shelves. Items have been checked by pencilled ticks at the left margin. The manuscript has a typed paper label on the front cover 'INVENTORY OF OBJECTS OF NATURAL HISTORY'. |
