TitleCopy letter, JWL [John William Lubbock], Rl Socy [Royal Society], to J B [Joseph Barclay] Pentland
CreatorLubbock; Sir John William; third baronet (1803-1865); British astronomer and banker
RecipientPentland; Joseph Barclay (1797-1873); Irish naturalist and traveller
Date30 August 1835
DescriptionHe sends some of the Admiralty tide papers and asks if Mr Savory could write a word on the nature of the results he has from Brest and the plan pursued, since he would not want to repeat this. He is also anxious to have copies of thr lithograph lectures referred to by M. Poisson. Dr [Thomas John] Hussey and Sir J [James] South found Halley's Comet about a week ago, both on the same morning. Dipomas for Foreign Members are not Lubbock's department, but his friends may expect them. Poisson gave him a Polytechnic programme and he would wish to have more copies, to give to persons who are interested in education, such as Lord Brougham.
