| Description | The President has received a note from the Chancellor of the Exchequer to say that Goversnment will defray the costs of magnetic instruments, therefore the £400 voted by the [British] Association may be witheld or repaid. The Chancellor may have written to Peacock, but if not, he says that Peacock and Professor [Humphrey] Lloyd should send an estimate of expense to the Ordnance or Treasury to complete the orders. Lubbock asks him to write if he or the President can do more. |
