| Title | Copy letter, James Hudson, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society, to Revd. John Hailstone |
| Creator | Hudson; James (1804-1859); British librarian and assistant secretary to the Royal Society |
| Date | 12 May 1832 |
| Description | Replying to Hailstone's enquiry, the temperature corrections applied to the Society's barometer are from a table by Professor [Heinrich Christian] Schumacher adapted for the English barometer. The Society's barometer does not have a continuous brass scale, so only the first part of the table is used. Mr Hussey has recently published this in a different form, in the Philosophical Magazine. Hudson explains how observations in the printed tables of the Royal Society Meteorological Register are corrected. |
