Title | Copy letter from Walter White, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society, B H [Burlington House], to [Eliza] Meteyard, Wildwood, North End, Hampstead |
Creator | White; Walter (1811-1893); British librarian and writer |
Recipient | Meteyard; Eliza (1816-1879); British writer |
Date | 11 July 1865 |
Description | White offers his assistance to Meteyard for her research on her book 'Life of Josiah Wedgwood'. White invites her to use the library to access the printed books, and offers a list of the titles of Wedgwood's papers printed in 'Philosophical Transactions'. White doubts that there will be much material in the archives as he notes that Wedgwood's name does not appear in the catalogue of manuscript letters, but writes that regardless, he is not able to provide the manuscripts to people who are not Fellows of the Royal Society. He therefore suggests that Meteyard writes to the President of the Society, but to do so for 'immediate leave', as the Council will not meet before the end of October.
