Description	Report on Barringer's proposal to order 'evaporated, compressed and other condensed foods in North and South America' and transport them in specially built barges 'so constructed as to show little surface above the water'. Decides that special barges are not necessary -- commends the scheme to transport dried foods 'when tonnage is scarce' -- notes that the vegetables and fruits have higher caloric value when dried, but that they are not as palatable -- mentions the Meat Meal scheme [MS/527/2] -- notes that dried milk and fish are of obvious value. Brings up concerns over how the dried food can be used by the public or services, and the capacity of the drying plant in America -- also suggests that fats and sugars are more valuable than any dried fruits, vegetables or fish.
