Title | Copy of letter from Sir Clements Markham, 21 Eccleston Square, to Sir Michael Foster, The Royal Society, with copy of Foster's reply |
Creator | Markham; Sir; Clements Robert (1830-1916); President of the Royal Geographical Society |
Foster; Sir; Michael (1836-1907); British physiologist |
Date | 19 June 1901 |
Description | Markhamn is sure that the Royal Geographical Society Council will adopt the Resolution Foster has sent. Questions the necessity of referring it to the Joint Committee, as they will not be allowed to make any changes to it. If the Royal Society Council requires the Joint Committee to see it, then a meeting should be called swiftly. Suggests that the agenda should be '"Appointment of Mr. George Murray as Director"'. Foster's reply confirms that the Royal Society's Council does require the Joint Committee to reference Murray's appointment, and that the Instructions from the Committee of six should be laid before them, though he agrees they will not be able to alter them. |
