TitleLetter from William Huggins, 90 Upper Tulse Hill, to the Treasurer [Alfred Bray Kempe]
CreatorHuggins; Sir; William (1824-1910); British astronomer
Date24 July 1901
DescriptionProviding details of a missing letter by [Sir William James Lloyd] Wharton, which was to be placed in the archives of the Joint Committee. It was posted on Monday, addressed to Porchester Square, and Huggins suggests that an inquiry should be made to the Post Office if it has not arrived. Also discusses the matter of [William] Shackleton's ill health. Huggins understands that Scott has already sent him a letter of dismissal, but is unsure if he has the authority to do this. [George] Murray believes that [Sir Norman] Lockyer will raise the issue with the press, and Huggins wonders if Shackleton might be in a position to bring an action for damages.
