List of names of Members of the Joint Committee (representing the Royal Geographical Society) who resigned, and their replacements
Letter from the Council of the RGS addressed to the Joint Committee dated 18 April 1901 which had been circulated to the Members of the Committee before the meeting, was considered, and Sir George Goldie suggested that if the suggestion for a Special Committe be accepted, the RGS would appoint Admiral Sir Leopold McClintock, Mr George S Mackenzie and himself to represent the Council of the Royal Geographical Society, and moved 'That the suggestions contained in the penultimate paragraph ...be adopted'.
Sir Michael Foster informed the Committee that the Council of the Royal Society, in view of the urgency of the case, took an action similar to the Council of the Royal Geographical Society, and that if it should please the Committee to accept the proposal to appoint a smaller Committee of six, the Council of the Royal Society were prepared to nominate three Members, namely Lord Lindley, Lord Lister, and Mr A B Kempe
Sir Michael Foster seconded the above motion, which was carrried by 22 votes against 3 (Professor Poulton and Mr Buchanan dissenting)
Further moved by Professor Rucker, seconded by Sir John Evans, and resolved 'That the Secretary be authorized to give any documents to the Small Committeee that they may require'. |
