Title | Letter from Arthur James Balfour, Admiralty, Whitehall, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Balfour; Arthur James; first Earl of Balfour (1848-1930); British Prime Minister and philosopher |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 28 May 1915 |
Description | Thanking Larmor for his letter. He has been looking into the matter of the Cambridge Laboratory and Larmor will receive a letter gratefully accepting his offer. He notes one immediate problem, the exploding of hydrogen in zeppelins. The recent air fight between a zeppelin and British aircraft was disappointing. Incendiary bullets were fired 'through and through' but with no effect. The authorities are puzzled. The subject is too long to go into by letter but is worth investigation.
Headed: 'Dictated' and 'Private'. |
